Statement
My name is Alonso Delgadillo. I am a full-time artist dedicated to muralism, illustration and fine art. Some say my work is sad. I don’t think so. It carries a nostalgic burden, that is true. Like many in Tijuana, I am a migrant. I grew up and learned from this border city. As an artist in constant flux, I feed from memory, from that which I am no longer. Hence this strong emotion, this impressive nostalgia in the migrant’s gaze.
My interests mutate with time, but a constant search has allowed for evolution along these lines. Thanks to this exploratory impulse and discipline, I have been able to transform my strokes into textures, into forms, shadows and movements. Muralism has allowed me to amplify my message, to polish this stroke. But what I most appreciate about this format is the opportunity to integrate myself into the intimacy of a community, to merge into its day to day, to be landscape through art.
Now that I live in the desert, I’ve learned another form of understanding time; that which informs the way I incorporate color into my work and which keeps my development as an artist active.
